Watch Your Step Visual Productions is a privately owned, multimedia (film, photography, audio, web, etc.) company, based in the Boston, Massachusetts, metropolitan area. We are one of the new breed of independent, low-budget film makers, capitalizing on the growth of digital video and Internet distribution technologies. In addition, we support the development of model and actor/actress portfolios, providing settings and themes that are unique and expressive--beyond the typical fashion shoot. Like many of these other companies, “low budget” does not mean “poor craftsmanship.” We aim for high production values in all aspects, whether this is in the acting, the writing, the development of the photographic theme, the scenery, or the lighting and sound.

Creativity is a core objective for WYSVP. We understand that, while we may be offering a small amount of compensation to the models, actors, actresses and production crews, the real payback is in the creative process--experimenting and “learning from doing.” We value input from everyone participating in any of our projects, whether it’s a suggested change in dialogue, an accessory to be added to a costume, to such technical items as a new angle for lighting, or a better sound effect to capture for a scene. Participants in various projects are drawn from a variety of levels, from students and novice models/actors, to seasoned professionals.

We do not have illusions of grandeur, expecting any of our features to be optioned or picked up for distribution by a major Hollywood company (although, that would be great if it did happen!). However, we do want our work to be seen, in a variety of environments. We plan on distributing our works through the following media:

• Video web sites, such as Youtube.com, Triggerstreet.com and Atomfilms.com
• Direct streaming of video off of our own web site
• Photographic portfolio development for talent agency clients as well as independent models
• Entry into a number of film festivals, both local and national
• Addition to IMDb and similar web outlets (where possible).

Further marketing and publicity will be done by targeting select blogs, wikis, and electronic discussion boards to further our exposure.

Michael Leach, the founder of WYSVP, is a new producer in the digital video business, but has extensive experience in web site development, visual design, marketing, photography & lighting, and project management, not to mention good working relationships with a number of models, actors/actresses, makeup artists, wardrobe specialists and hair stylists. Like many in the indie industry, he has a full time job (to pay the bills and to raise a family!) outside the film/photography arena. As such, most WYSVP projects--especially during the production phase--take place either in the evenings, or more commonly on the weekends.
